Necessity of this Technology
- For visually impaired, their hands replace the roles of the eyes. In order to use
Braille pads, which are used by the visually impaired, for outdoor activities, one hand
should be placed on the braille pad and one hand should be carrying a stick.
- In other words, since both hands are used, it is difficult to cope with emergency
situations
- In addition, assistive devices for the visually impaired are not cheap in price because
there are not many users, and the development of the products is not fast.
Technical Differentiation
- This technology is equipped with a supplementary device in the shoe insole,
providing the convenience of one hand for the visually impaired.
- We construct six driving units that can transmit braille information to shoes. It can
be linked with a smart device such as a smart phone to perform navigation functions
when moving, or to provide simple braille information based on location to blind people.
- Navigation through shoes can be a very useful technique for the general public.
As a smart device, various sensors can be inserted in module form to be used for
entertainment (health, gait analysis, etc.).
