The Future of the Digitally-Enhanced Machinery Industry: 2024 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering
- KIMM Hosts the 「2024 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering」 “Incorporating Digitalization into the Machinery Industry”
on September 4 at the National Assembly –
- Presentations will be Made on the Development Direction for the Machinery Industry in the Digital Transformation Era -
□ As the world rapidly adapts to the changing business environment and market demands, the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM), under the Ministry of Science and ICT, will hold the "2024 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering" both in-person and online on September 4, 2024, starting at 1:10 PM at the National Assembly Museum in Seoul.
○ 2024 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering - Date/Time: September 4, 2024 (Wednesday) at 13:10 - Theme: “Incorporating Digitalization into the Machinery Industry” - Hosted by: Korean Institute of Machinery and Materials, Members of Parliament Seoung-Lae Jo (Democratic Party), Hyung-Du Choi (People Power Party), and Jung-A Hwang (Democratic Party) - Sponsored by: Ministry of Science and ICT, National Research Council of Science & Technology |
□ Supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Council of Science & Technology, this forum, jointly organized by KIMM and Members of Parliament Seoung-Lae Jo, Hyung-Du Choi , and Jung-A Hwang, will invite domestic and international experts to discuss the future development of mechanical technologies in the era of digital transformation.
□ The keynote speaker, Professor Young-Seop Joo from Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Engineering, who previously served as the Minister of Small and Medium Business Administration, will address "Innovation in the Machinery Industry through Digital and AI Transformation," focusing on key global trends such as digitalization and sustainability.
□ In the presentation session chaired by Se-Don Choo, President of the Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST), Jung-Woo Ha, Head of the NAVER Future AI Center, will present on "From Sovereign AI to AI Diversity: NAVER's Strategy in the Era of Generative AI." In addition, Dong-Wook Lee, President of HD Hyundai XiteSolution, will discuss "Adding AI to Steel: Digital Transformation in the Construction Machinery Industry."
□ Antonio Krüger, CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), will provide insights on "DFKI - Innovations in a Public-Private-Partnership for Incorporating Digitalization into Production Processes," showcasing Germany and Europe’s innovative approaches to integrating AI into industrial digitalization. And lastly, KIMM’s President Seog-Hyeon Ryu will present "The Path to K-Machine: Integrating Machinery Industry with DX/AI," introducing KIMM’s three-pillar system for leading K-Machine initiatives and suggesting collaborative strategies for the machinery industry ecosystem.
□ The forum will conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Jea-Gun Park, President of the Korean Society of Semiconductor & Display Technology (also Professor at the Hanyang University), where keynote speakers and presenters will engage in detailed analysis and discussion on "Integration of DX/AI in the Machinery Industry."
□ Registration for the "2024 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering" is currently open on the forum's website. The event will also be live-streamed on the forum’s website and KIMM’s official YouTube channel, with real-time comment participation available.
